Wrekin Run Away with Medals Print
Triathlon Club News
triathlon_logoSaturday 10th July 2010 saw the staging of the Wrekin College Swimming & Triathlon Club Summer Aquathlon, at Wrekin College. There was a fantastic representation from the club, with the majority competing within an aquathlon for the first time.

Distances for both the swim and run varied by age and many enjoyed the challenge of competitive swimming and running further than they had before! Distances were:

Group Age Swim (m)
Run (m)
Tristar Start 8 50 600
Tristar 1 9 / 10 150 1500
Tristar 2 11 / 12 200 2000
Tristar 3 13 / 14 300 3000
Youth 15 / 16 400 3000

Starting the afternoon's racing off and competing in his first ever aquathlon Jamie Beebee set a blistering pace for a convincing win in the Youth category claiming fastest swim and run of the day! This was followed up by two brilliant performances within the Tristar 3 categories with Macauley Carline and Holly Barnett both claiming first place in their races – these were very competitive categories and both did exceptionally well in their first aquathlon.

The Tristar 2 category again saw some excellent racing with Connie Sanders claiming top spot for the girls, and some great competition in the boys with Jack Sanders leading the way in 2nd place, closely followed by Joel Roura in 3rd.  Tristar 1 was lead home for the girls with Holly Townson in 2nd place hotly pursued by Jess Humphreys in 3rd; with Matty Simmonds leading the boys home with a 2nd place victory.

Some great racing was seen from the youngest of our team with Niamh Hofland claiming a convincing win for the girls in Tristar Start, Kate Grimsdale suffered a mishap in transition but gave a great chase finishing in 3rd place (one to watch in the future!). Harry Sanders claimed 2nd place for the boys.

Supporters were in great voice and cheered all our competitors on brilliantly; the racing was exciting with many phenomenal achievements for our youngsters – all performed brilliantly!
