What a lot of people don't realise is that our fantastic success at this years Shropshire County Championships has not just happened overnight.  It was nearly five years ago that Jim Mostyn who is the Head of Sport at Wrekin College approached David Clarke and Rachel Reilly who run the Streamline Swimming Academy at Wrekin College swimming pool about how we can take swimming forward at Wrekin College.  It was then that we had a plan of where we wanted to be in five years.

At this year's County Championships we have now showed that if you want to be a top class swimmer, Wrekin College is the place to be.

Even though we have become the Top Club in our first year, it's our swimmers performances that has impressed us the most.

Out the 25 swimmers who competed 15 of them achieved 100 Midland District Qualifying times and 6 swimmers broke 13 county records and we have now achieved our aim for this year and it's still only March.

We already have two swimmers who have qualified for this year's Nationals Maddy Tracy and Megan Carline and are very hopeful that we'll have at least three more swimmers qualifying for the Nationals very shortly.

Jim Mostyn said:

Our early success for this year is only worth while if we can continue to keep moving the club forward over the coming years.
