Age Group Coach Rachel Reilly Over the two weekends of the 4th & 5th and 11th & 12th June 2011, Wrekin College Swimming Club BAGCAT squad attended the Midlands Age Group Championships held at the 50M international pool in the City of Coventry.

First Weekend - 4th & 5th July 2011

Rachel Reilly was delighted with her swimmers performances over the first weekend of the Midland Bagcat Championships. The results speak for themselves with swimmers achieving personal best times and medal places.  Of the twelve swimmers competing seven finished within the top eight positions; Paige Norry-Addison (Aged 12) gained her first National Qualifying Time (NQT) for 100m Butterfly; Holly Barnett (Aged 13), Luke Smith (Aged 10) and Macauley Carline (Aged 14) all qualified for the finals.

Congratulations also to Holly Townson (Aged 10), Luke Smith, Paige Norry-Addison and Holly Barnett who all won bronze medals.

Charlie Percox (Aged 11), Jon Mills (Aged 11), Jacob Blakemore (Aged 11) and Connie Sanders (Aged 11) also swam and gained new personal best times (PBs).

Second Weekend - 11th & 12th July 2011

It was another good weekend for Rachel's swimmers.  All twelve swimmers competed again and like last weekend lots of P.B's where achieved. Six swimmers made the Top eight with Luke Smith and Holly Barnett both winning Bronze medals.

Also the girls competed in the relays and finished in the top eight in all three relays.

Girls Relay Team consisting of:
  • Holly Barnett (Aged 13)
  • Sophia Baig (Aged 13)
  • Paige Norry-Addison (Aged 12)
  • Lauren Holland (Aged 12)
  • 7th 4x 100m Freestyle (4:21.71)
  • 6th 4x 200m Freestyle (9:24.84)
  • 6th 4x 100m Medley (4:57.15)

BAGCATS Award Ceremony

It was especially encouraging to see two swimmers representing our club at the final BAGCATS Awards Ceremony.

Holly Townson (Aged 10) and Holly Barnett (Aged 13) both made the Top Eight in the Midland Region for their respective age group.  Holly Townson achieved an incredible 5th place in her first year at BAGCATS and Holly Barnett was placed a very credible 8th.

Also swam and gained personal best times where Charlie Percox, Jon Mills, Jacob Blakemore, Connie Sanders, Paige Norry-Addison, Lauren Holland and Macauley Carline.

Over the two weekends of competition Junior Head Coach Rachel Reilly was really pleased on how all the swimmers competed and supported each other.

Overall Wrekin College Swimming Club won 6 Bronze Medals, had 2 swimmers that finished Top 8 in the Midlands and also smashed 62 Long Course PB's.
