Saturday 10th July 2010 saw the staging of the Wrekin College Swimming & Triathlon Club Summer Aquathlon, at Wrekin College. There was a fantastic representation from the club, with the majority competing within an aquathlon for the first time.Distances for both the swim and run varied by age and many enjoyed the challenge of competitive swimming and running further than they had before! Distances were: | Group | Age | Swim (m)
| Run (m) | | Tristar Start | 8 | 50 | 600 | | Tristar 1 | 9 / 10 | 150 | 1500 | | Tristar 2 | 11 / 12 | 200 | 2000 | | Tristar 3 | 13 / 14 | 300 | 3000 | | Youth | 15 / 16 | 400 | 3000 |
Starting the afternoon's racing off and competing in his first ever aquathlon Jamie Beebee set a blistering pace for a convincing win in the Youth category claiming fastest swim and run of the day! This was followed up by two brilliant performances within the Tristar 3 categories with Macauley Carline and Holly Barnett both claiming first place in their races – these were very competitive categories and both did exceptionally well in their first aquathlon. | | Read more... | |

This was the first club gala we've attended since our successful debut at the County Championships, so the pressure was on all our swimmers to prove themselves outside the county in this very prestigious open meet, swimming against the best swimmers from all the top clubs in the Midlands.
What a long weekend...but what a result.
Every swimmer without exception achieved new personal bests despite the constant interruptions of the faulty fire alarm on the Sunday, (my ears are still ringing!!!) and everyone seemed to have a brilliant time. Oh, have I mentioned about our massive haul of 17 medals, 43 personal bests (PBs) and the new National Qualifying Time (NQT) we also achieved.
